What is purchasing to you?

What does purchasing mean to you? For some it is just going out an buying, for others it is there passion. In todays world there is so much going on in procurement. Cheating, fraud, wasteful expenditure, fronting, greed and excess expenditure. Not saying this is all and everyone but it is happening. Working for a corporate there are so many rules and regulations to combat this but can often even influence it or aid it because the rules are impossible to implement fully.

All i want to do it try save some money where we can, keep the factories up and running and do my job as best we can. Everything seems to have become so rushed, Opex and Capex. Planning does not seem to happen like it should.

For Me to a degree i believe faith has been lost. Planning is short and not detailed enough. Hence maintenance does not happen. Projects get pushed on factories before being fully realised.

And it’s not just a job for procurement. You need to engage colleagues across the business. By working together, organisations can learn the hard lessons.

Lets focus on what's right and do the best. Where can you do what is right appraise in the situation. Do what you preach and what you want others to do as well.
